Community Issues: Criminal Justice Reform:

This is the first in a series of community discussions focused on the real issues that people are struggling with in our community and our state. The event is located inside the Panera Bread.

From harmful sentencing policies overall, to the disproportionate rate that African Americans and members of the Hispanic community face incarceration; from the Kent County Jail's cooperation with Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and the deportation of non-violent individuals who are even suspected of a crime, to a greater civilian oversight role over our police departments; we can do better and we must do better as a state.

Join us as we discuss how to make progress in reforming our Criminal Justice system and make Michigan a better state for us all. We've invited other candidates who are running for positions like Circuit Court Judge and County Commission and community leaders to be present and to share their vision for real reform from their positions.
